Woodland Homes Receives Small Business Award For 2007

Woodland Homes wins 2007 Small Business Award in the category of Construction and Manufacturing.
On Aug. 23, 2007, Woodland Homes Inc. of Huntsville, Ala., was named Small Business of the Year in the
category of Construction and Manufacturing.
The company also won the “Excellence is Not Optional” award, which was awarded by Alabama A&M. Woodland Homes was chosen over all four of the category winners as the recipient of this award.
Woodland Homes was a finalist for the award in 2004, 2005 and 2006. After this year’s win, president of the company, Mike Friday gave an acceptance speech.
“My best ability has been stick-ability,” said Friday. In 29 years of business, Friday has persevered in difficult real estate markets and flourished during strong markets. In 12 years of business, Friday has worked to develop the company into the best in the building business. “Our company focus is ‘simply the best,’ and it’s our goal to offer that to our customers. If it wasn’t for our customers we wouldn’t be where we are today. We’re grateful to them for helping Woodland Homes become this year’s Small Business of the Year,” said Friday.
Mike and Melissa Friday opened Woodland Homes in 1995. The Fridays and a book keeper began the business in a 450-squarefoot construction trailer with 12 homes to build. Today, Woodland Homes has nearly 50 employees. The business is based out of a technology-rich 20,000-squarefoot corporate office, and has built more than 200 homes in 2007 alone. The growth the company has experienced is greatly due to the integrity and quality Mike Friday provides to his clients. Offering the best service and product to their customers remains Mike and Melissa Friday’s top priority.
Woodland Homes communities in the Huntsville, Madison and Monrovia areas are Village at Walden Preserve, Walden Preserve, Whitworth Farms, Whitworth Gardens, Shadow Brook, Bishop Farms and Woodmill. The newest communities in the area are Indian Creek Townhomes, Kelly Cove, Overland Cove, Spencer Green and Foxfield.
