Since I only had radiant ceiling heat in my Mothers' house, I decided to install 4 of the Rinnai Direct Vent Natual Gas Wall Heaters, a 11,000 BTU (sun room), a 21,000 BTU (office area into the living room), and 2 17,500 BTU (1 in the dining room/kitchen and 1 in the master bedroom). What a difference in the quality of the heat and evenness of the room temperatures. After about 5 years, I decided to install an additional 4 heaters, all 8,000 BTU (2 in the living room and 1 each in 2 small bedrooms). Now the house is completely even and there are no cold spots to speak of anywhere in the house. Would definitely recommend.

The small Rinnai is sufficient to heat a small room well. It does not shut off like a normal forced air heater but rather slows down gradually and starts up gradually.

Like: Very quiet and heats up half of our house as intended. Easy and fast installation. Dislike: Build in thermostat cannot be programmed for night setback temperature, just time when the furnace turns completely off. Color of the unit could be better and the stickers are distracting

This little heater warms a large space. In square feet the floor is only 210 square ft, but has a 12 ft ceiling. The heater has advanced controls including a setback feature triggering the burner to light when the space temperature drops below the set point I chose. The heater responds well coming up to the Occupied set point then conserves energy by temporarily going Unoccupied waiting for a signal to relight the burner automatically when the space temp falls a few degrees. The humidification tray is a very nice feature to address warm dry winters. The one thing I would change is to add a set of adjustable louvers to redirect the heated supply air. My contractor piped the unit into the corner of the room. The heater's ducts direct the heated supply air into the corner of the room rather than the center of the room. Overall, I would recommend this unit to friends.
