"Excellent product, questionable support"
Mr Toad Oct 1, 2021
Unit performs well, and is easy to install. My problems came with support. There are no local Rinnai service techs that would come to commission or repair the unit. Also online support was very slow.

"Rinnai won't even speak with the owner of the boiler, only a plumber. Terrible customer service & my display has already broke & they will not help me, don't buy one"

"NOT COMPLETELY SATISFIED YET"
Almost HappyI Jan 18, 2021
It takes much less space, has instructions that are easily interpreted, my installer is available for a year, the boiler works well and the tankless hot water works well. My problem is it keeps cutting off and giving me an error code. When I turn the boiler off and back on I again have no problem with my heat and hot water but it still happens too frequently for my complete satisfaction at this point. I will be happy when this problem is solved and may not be a Rinnai system problem.

Replaced a large footprint with a tiny one. Seems to be doing it's job. Will know more as the Winter progresses.

Now works great...installation was a bitch, took 2 months to get it right. Rinnai support to dealer was poor.

"Needs better manual"
Ozzy Feb 11, 2020
I love that it has a winter feature keeping water warm for immediate use, and that it is so quite. how ever, I feel there should be more in the operation manual about operating temperature. Also if there is a power interruption, it takes way to long to cycle through start up. takes about 5 minutes on average.

I had it installed in October of 2019. My unit does both the hot water baseboard heat and the domestic hor water. My old boiler did not hear the house evenly or it my not have heated one one the zones. ( I have 3)
My wife and I are extremely happy!

"Rinnai M160 Combi Unit."
JC Jan 21, 2020
It's a good unit when it runs right but watch out. Some error codes will stop the machine completely and require a manual reset, like 1P9 and 140, OK Rennai Engineers. If you are away from home and error 140 Occurs this will potentially cause pipes to freeze. This unit stopped on me several times since the installation in 2019 and is still not resolved. They should have installed an auto reset feature as it starts back up after every manual reset. If I had know this I would have never purchased this unit.

"Our heating company, Valley Heating & Cooling were the experts and professional who installed this. They were Great.
This is only the first heating season that we are using the Rinnai. We have 160K BTU unit for about a 3,000sqft house, and for domestic hot water on demand. Although we've only had a few really cold nights this year (Below 15deg F) it seems to keep up with our heating demands very well. To save energy, we turn thermostats down when we're gone, and we keep our rooms between between 64 and 69 Deg F when we're home, depending on whether we're using them or not. I gave it 4 stars because we've had it for such a short time. If we get a good service life out of it over the next 10 or 15 years I would likely bump that up to 5. So far it has met or exceeded our expectations for the first 4 months of use. "

As I said above, this is our first heating season, so we've only had it about 4 months. So I can't speak on expected useful life or reliability. We run it on propane and its very small (Tankless), very quiet, and seems to be very efficient. The computerized controls and switches are easy to access on the front panel. We check on it weekly in the heating season, and need to add a little water now and then as the air in the lines gets worked out. The vented exhaust gasses are quite cool, I'm guessing less than 100 Degrees when I put my hand in front of it, so it doesn't need a stack, only a small double port through the outer sidewall. It seems to expel mostly water vapor and CO2, so you do see a bit of steam coming out of it on a cool day. We've been tracking the cost of propane compared to wood (Our previous furnace was a large exterior wood 124K BTU forced hot water unit) and it is definitely cheaper than running the wood furnace along with the hot water heater. From what I can tell in these 4 mounts, the cost of propane will be about the same as the cost of wood over the course of a full year. But there's no longer a need for my labor. No splitting, stacking, stoking or cleaning that large wood furnace, which is now a back up for our Rinnai. I've estimated that this has saved me about 160 hours of labor per year to heat with wood which averages about 3 hours per week, every week. If (and that's a BIG IF) I could hire someone at $10/hr or $15/hr to do that for me, it would cost between $1,600 and $2,400 a year more, or I would have to do the work myself. So overall, having this new Rinnai is saving us time and money.

I have loved my home since I purchased it. Then last year I replaced the heating unit with your unit. From the very first day it was put in it hasn’t worked as promised. I have had a repair man in no less then 20 times
I no longer look forward to coming home and are at the point I hate my home
