My son and I installed this heater as a replacement for another on-demand heater (a different brand). Since it was new, this original other brand heater had multiple problems. The Rinnai was installed 11 months ago and has worked well from the beginning. Installation was straightforward; however, it did require some skill. The unit has met my expectations providing all of the hot water we require. We have well water that comes into the house at 55 degrees. Having measured the quantity, it takes 2 quarts of cold water from the faucet before it reaches 120 degrees out of the faucet. Excellent on-demand water heater.

The reliability of the water heater is excellent. We previously had another brand tankless water heater and it frequently had to be reset to provide hot water. That can be a problem when you are in the shower and you have to reset to continue receiving hot water. In the eight months since we purchased the Rinnai not one problem and the hot water is delivered faster than our old tankless system. Very pleased.

Very disappointed in this product. It takes more than a minute to deliver hot water, even to the kitchen sink which is directly above the water heater. We are wasting a lot of water. A technician visited our home and said there was nothing that could be done about the problem.

We had a Rinnai installed but it failed and started to leak 14 months after purchase. We ordered through a local dealer but they were not able to fix it. We had another company try to fix it and they said the original installation may have not been done correctly. We had to purchase another new unit.
We have a off grid cabin ten thousand feet in elevation we only use on weekends. Existing 50 gallon water heater took up to much room. The Rinnai tank less saved lots of room. And we don't need to worry about draining the water heater in the colder seasons or worry about it freezing. Perfect solution for us. I have owned the Rinnai for One year, finding new things I like about it. One is setting the temperature to a set temperature while taking a shower it stays at that temperature after turning the handle all the way to hot. Real easy to adjust temperature with the up and down arrows. Had to call customer service to help get the temperature to 140 at our elevation very helpful and super easy to do. So far maintenance free and super happy.

I dislike that we had issue meeting the minimum flow to turn on the hotwater heater. You have to blast every facuet in order for the hotwater to turn on. We ended up removing the flow restrictors in a bunch of faucets to get around this issue.
