Happy as can be. Had one in another home I lived in for 10 years, never any issues as long as you back flushed the unit as recommended.

"What you need to know"

Too hot, too cold Jul 20, 2022

3.0

We have had ours for a year, I think the on demand water heaters are good, but you need to know that it takes a few minutes to heat the water. Also, it is hard to get a good balance of hot and cold water. In the summer I don't like hot showers, with my unit when I get the temp that is comfortable the hot cuts off. I have to turn it all the way up on hot to get hot water to run again. One more thing, I had to take out all the water regulators of my facets because the water would have to run 10 minutes before the hot came through. I don't know if all on demand hot water heaters are like this or if it is specific to Rinnai.

Very dependable, efficient and quiet. Had 1 unit appx 3 years the second unit is appx 8 months old. They both operate on propane.

"Yes, but…."

Pictures in brochure show the slim compact unit but do not show the unsightly pipes which are required underneath and are not supposed to be enclosed. It’s difficult to maintain a constant temperature at less than full heat and volume. Unit tends to shut off at warm, low volume, very annoying—and chilling— when bathing the dog, for example. It has been installed nearly a year. On the positive, we gained a pantry where the old water heater was.

I have had the unit for 3 months and it continues to produce a great amount of hot water on demand. I like that it is a quiet unit as well.

I’ve been in my new home about eight months and have had no issues with it at all. When family is here and all three bathrooms have the showers going I’ve never had a problem with hot water

"So far, so good."

We've had our Rinnai for about six weeks. It has, so far, proven to be reliable. Hopefully it will last many years. It's nice to have a small unit rather than the old fashioned tank. Down side is that it does take a while longer to heat up. We can't tell yet if it saves energy costs or not.
