So far the hot water heater itself works OK but the control panel technology / MC195T is awful. It looks and feels so dated as if it is 20 years old. The scheduling for re circulation is hard to use, you can only set the schedule per an entire hour, can't configure weekend or different day schedules. Not only is it not easy to use but very lacking in configuration and features. For example, the control panel automatically lights up and turns the screen on every time you use hot water. Of course there is no option to turn that off. Why would I want the screen to keep cutting on? It doesn't look like much thought or planning went into the control panel technology and I'm surprised how badly it is.
I looked into getting the mobile app for iOS or Android but the reviews are awful, also you can only have one or the other, can't have both. There are lots of complaints about the mobile app not working, losing connection, etc. It is 2022 I can't believe the technology behind this product is so poor. That is my biggest complaint about the unit, it seems the company either doesn't care or has not invested /prioritized improving this important aspect of the unit.

Four month old house came with a Rinnai system. Very slow delivery of hot water to sink / shower. Water is wasted while waiting for hot water. This is unacceptable, as citizens are asked to conserve water in this drought-stricken area.

Makes water hot and as much as you need. Unit is about 9 mo old. Temperature reset to 120 F when Ac power is interupted. Can not get the unit to work with the app.

Purchased a recirculating model, since our MBR is farthest from hot water source. When connectivity with app is good, system works great. I like the ability to start recirculation instantly, whenever I wake up. Of course you can also set a schedule. The app is not as intuitive as expected and utilizes wireless to connect. I have has 3 calls with Rinnai customer service - they were great and quickly walked me through process to reset - but should I really have to make this call. Overall good product.

Had a tank WH in the attic over the master bed room that started leaking, thus I had to get it out of there. This seemed like a good solution. Only 7 months in so far, and very pleased with the performance.

I've had my Rinnai for five months, and my overall experience is that I get hot water quickly when it's recirculating, much more slowly when it's not. The water temp is consistent as to where I set it (125 degrees). However, the unit is located outside my bathroom and when it is recirculating or running, it is much louder inside the (well-insulated) house than I expected. I also frequently get a whiff of natural gas odor when it cycles on if i'm outside near the unit. These are more to set expectations than to be complaints. Overall, I am pleased with our Rinnai as our water heater!

I love the set it and forget it aspect of operation. I set up the circulation pump schedule on my model and have had completely flawless operation since installation. I have had in operation for about 4 months now and besides occasionally checking operating stats on the Rinnai App I have not had to think about it. Showers, dishwasher, laundry and a teen that loves endless showers, this heater can handle them all.

We dislike that the Rinnai is constantly going offline and there is no customer support. We have had this system for over 7 months.

I love having all the hot water we want and the energy savings. Haven't yet been able to get the recirculation system working so water in the kitchen takes forever and occasionally the system resets to 110º which isn't hot enough - its simple enough to reset.

The control-r system has great promise, and is the #1 reason why I bought two Rinnai tankless water heaters with several motion sensors to activate water recirculation. Unfortunately the system only works for a week or two, but then will lose connectivity with the motion sensors and will even reboot the entire water heater while you're in the shower. So yes, if the water heater doesn't have (or think it has) a good Wifi or internet connection, it will reboot the water heater, stopping all hot water until the system reboots. Recently there was a major app update and it's been a disaster, for weeks not allowing me to activate the recirculation and numerous other things that did work until the big update. Finally, the Alexa integration has never worked for two different water heaters. The support team is super nice, but they alone can't fix the software and there's no communication from Rinnai about whether those responsible even know what's going on or are working on anything specific. A product roadmap of any sort would be nice.
