The unit is fantastic. Makes hot water fast and it never runs out. Looks great seems to have excellent build quality. As a hot water unit I give it a 10/10 But… consider these things. As a retrofit in a 2400 sf two story home with the unit in the basement it takes about 1 1/2 2 min to get he upstairs. The recirc valve does little to improve this. Since I was doing a full home renovation I installed a dedicated insulated recirc loop. Now I walk around the house and say hey Siri hot water on and it heats up the loop and I have instant hot water at all taps in the house. The unit pump comes on and vibrates the whole house since it was installed on an interior wall. Very annoying!!!! Rinnai should sell a isolation kit and document an installation method to prevent this. I uninstalled the proffetiinal install and installed the unit on a 2x10 leg that is isolated from the wall. Problem solved. This was a big deal in the basement and family room above the install The remote wifi unit. It would be great if you could use it for statistics like when it turned on and for how long. How often it was on in a day week month. These are things that help the customer feel good about their retrofit purchase.

This was m first tankless water heater experience. I can say that my house was large and I required two systems. I am glad my builder has the return line installed (but not hooked up) to allow for recirculation on call...to heat the entire house on demand. We did not have the proper model of one the devices, so we had to get a replacement for the proper one to allow recirculation. One big tip...you will need the Rinnai App to control the heating and recirculation. We set on tank at 120F and the second on at 135F. Once we figured out the app, all was well. Another tip it to get a couple of the remote 'push buttons' that also start the heating/recirculation for about 5 minutes. Just enough to take a quick shower or ensure the washer got a boost in the temp. We have about a year under out belt and all is well. Annual maintenance rinse and refill is out next adventure. Highly recommend this system

Our Rinnai tankless water heater was installed by a plumber the house flipper hired. I should have waited until after purchasing the house and paid a more qualified plumber to do the install. We've had the water heater for about a year now and like it. It serves our needs well, but some short-cuts the inexperienced plumber took has concerned me. About to do the yearly maintenance myself, so hoping that goes well.

Takes a long time for hot water
Generally speaking it works ok and having an app is nice (though the app is mostly useless). But Rinnai leaves you high and dry if you have problems. We bought a RUR199iN for a house with just my wife and I in it, and we have been having temperature fluctuation issues with only 2 fixtures in use. Our installer tried several times to fix it, but they aren't licensed plumbers so they do not know everything. They were 1 of 2 Rinnai certified installers in my area who can work on these systems. Every other plumber I call won't touch it. We've sunk a lot of money into replacing random plumbing items to no avail. Rinnai tech support refused to discuss the issues with me. They say they will only talk to installers, which is ridiculous. So we're just stuck now with nobody who can help us and a company so arrogant that they don't care.
I have had the unit for over 6 months. I like the ability to program start and stop times, but wish I could do it for specific days of the week. The gas exhaust is causing my neighbors to riot. We have had the installer out twice and gas company out once and one time did a tech walk through with tech support, but everyone insists it is a "normal:" discharge even though it is quite annoying to experience the odor that often. We have had difficulties explaining that to our neighbors who are not pleased.

ALWAYS get a recirculation pump with your Rinnai to get fast hot water during times programmed. If not, depending on the size of house you will wait a good while for the water to get hot as well as waste the water flowing while waiting. It would be nice if controller for circulation pump had a third program sequence AND a backup battery to hold clock time when power outages are longer than a blink.

My Rinnai hot water is great, i never have to worry about running out of hot water. The Model that i have purchased is programable through my phone so i can pick and choose when the unit circulates for any day of the week. So far i have had no issues with this model, very dependable.

We've had our Rinnai on-demand water heater for about 6 months and we really enjoy it. The biggest benefit to us is the recirculation feature as we have a couple of taps that are far away from our hot water and we used to have to run the hot water forever (like 3 liters worth) before we would get hot water. Now we just schedule the recirculation and we have our hot water right away. The only real detractor that I have experienced is having to reset the wifi for the Rinnai unit when I swapped out my router for a new one. I had to set the Rinnai back to factory defaults and then complete the setup again. Not a big deal after I figured that out.
