"The best on demand water heater"
Consulwal Apr 13, 2020
The Rinnai on demand hot water heaters are the best in the market. Their warranty is the best in the industry. 12 years on the heat exchanger, 5years on the rest of the parts and 5 years on the labour when registered.

"Nice product with some minor quirks"

I have used this product for three years. It saves me money on my monthy gas bill, and it's nice to have hot water that does not run out. The controller is confusing to use and I had some issues early on with the hot water not coming on due to low flow rate.

The unit is noisy. It cycles several times an hour at odd times. The unit was professionally installed 6 months ago and the plumber had problems installing it. Turned out there were some broken parts that needed replacement. Rinnai sent the replacements that were installed but this hasn't solved the noise or cycling problems. I emailed support but they could only point me to the manual. The manual leaves out a lot of questions.

We have a smaller house but this brand seems to take longer to get hot. I may have to get a tech to come out and verify the unit is installed correctly. We have been in the home for about a month now and even with the valve installed, it takes a long time for water to get hot.

This is a new installation so have not had it long. However previously had one that only handled the downstairs of the house. During a renovation, put in a large one for the whole house. Seems to be working as expected. My only complaint is that if the electricity goes out, the system will not work even though it is gas.

The water heater is awesome. Continuous hot water. However, the App and WiFininterfration is poorly throughtnout and frankly the app sucks.

"Yes with the caveat that you shouldn't expect to get hot water as hot as you get from a conventional hot water heater. On the whole, I don't think this was worth the significantly greater cost than that of a tank type hot water heater."

1) Water is not as hot.
2) Far too expensive for what you get
3) Less than 6 months
4) It is adequate, but definitely NOT great

"I have had irregular hot water since the day of install. The unit is not throwing a code so they say it is my plumbing. But plumbing is not that complicated! And there is no crossover of hot and cold. I have communicated regularly with customer support, and even paid for a tech to come out. The problem is irregular and seems to be tied to the recirculation pump though. He was unable to find any issues and even said the unit was instlled properly. "

Recirc pump is nice if I didn’t have to deal with randomly cold showers every night.

I really liked the idea of a tankless water heater that was Wi-Fi controlled, but I think this one falls short of its promise. It definitely heats water with enough capacity to run for my single person household. That being said, the software lacks. The Wi-Fi was difficult to get set up and the app had more than its share of bugs. I have to keep my water at 120° for the recirculation with a crossover valve to work. There's no option for me to run hot water at 110° and recirculate for five minutes to heat up the lines.
"Hot showers"

Took a little time to get used to getting hot water for showers in the morning. I like a warm shower, not a hot shower. It's necessary to turn the hot water up and then turn it down. It heats up fast.
