- Primary Kurmak contacts (Frank, Kyle, Stu, Brent & Tom while he was around) were all very good to deal with and were very responsive. - Subs were generally good ... interactions w/ electrical & tile/flooring stood out as being very good. - Issues were dealt with in a timely and effiecient manner ... especially appreciated how backsplash was taken care of. - Especially happy w/ Stu's work on kitchen cabinets. - Overall was a good experience and would certainly consider using Kurmak again.
- We appreciated that the renovation was completed by the planned date, but there was significant float in the schedule that was not taken advantage of. Felt like a missed opportunity to finish sooner. - There was room for improvement on the finishes of some of the woodwork ... an error was made and attempts made to correct (stain on rail and stringer caps) ... it is adequate but this could have been better. - The quality of the wall paint is poor ... can't clean without damaging the finish ... which is disappointing. Perhaps we as homeowners should have enquired but perhaps, as the experienced general contractor, Kurmak could have provided options & or info on this point. - It felt as though lots of cleaning was done through rough carpentry, plumbing and electrical, but once flooring was down cleaning seemed to drop off (or perhaps was more noticeable) and more care could have been taken during painting (a few paint spots in grooves of hardwood ... which was obviously wiped but must have happened because it was not covered). - Kyle was our main contact and was very responsive. Chris did not have any issues with communication, but Dawn sometimes felt as though she was being spoken down to (particularly as he was preparing to leave on vacation).
The attention to detail and responsiveness to concerns.
