I would not recommend Meritage homes to others because of our experience with the house itself in the brief amount of time we have been here. While the process of buying was seamless and we dealt with pleasant and helpful individuals along the way (especially Stephen and Bruna), since being in the home we have been quite disappointed. We have had several issues, for example our air conditioner has stopped working multiple times. We had the wrong information about what ac company to reach out to which caused issues in trying to get it taken care of the first time. The finishes within the home have been very disappointing, including but not limited to cracked kitchen cabinets, missed paint, a linen door hanging off the track, crooked outlet and light switch covers, uneven tile in shower, cracked mirror in master bathroom, scratches in several of the doorknobs on inside doors, less than worthy backdoor that is letting bugs in, garage door liner/trim that is bending and cracked, and flooring that is so fragile it is already scratched and scuffed and we are only a family of 2 with 1 dog. And, the incredible nosiness of this house is absolutely astounding. With any amount of wind or rain the noise level inside ramps up quite a bit especially at the vent hood and in the master bathroom; had we known that ahead of time, it is quite possible we never would have bought the house. Responsiveness has been issue in some instances-for example, our master bathroom toilet backed up into our shower our first weekend in the house, and getting a hold of the project manager was quite difficult as it was when our AC went out. We were told by our project manager upon him seeing a scratch in the paint done by movers that we needed to be more careful. This comment was pretty tough to swallow given all the other issues going on with the house including a plate falling of the door jam of the front door preventing the door from latching properly without being pulled in and locked. This issue was taken care of by the gentleman that came 2 weeks later to fix the linen door. When we reached out to Eddie to let him know the plate had now fallen off (there was an issue with our door and an order for a new one had been put in), his response was "Remember I ordered a brand new door for you last week so that will be in about 7 to 10 days and we'll get it in installed." Why did it take the company that came to fix the linen door noticing the missing plate to get it fixed? Along with fixing that, he went through and tightened the doorknobs as many of them were loose. Also, after pointing out a dirt/rust spot on the vent hood before even moving in, we were told, they would come clean it or tell us how to. There were many things we pointed out both verbally and with blue tape before move in that were exactly the same the day we moved in. This was incredibly disappointing and started our time in the house off on a less-than-satisfactory note. (And, I reiterate, this is only SOME of the issues.) The reason for a 1 rating on "caring displayed by Meritage Homes" is directly related to the house as it was on our move-in date. While it was clean, it was not turned over to us in way a company with pride should turn a house over. Had we been told, "there are still some issues we need to come take care of" we would have understood and accepted that. But, the keys were given to us with no notes. They were given to us as if the builder was proud of what was being turned over; as if it were in perfect move-in-ready condition. It wasn't.

My husband and I had an incredible experience with the Meritage Homes team. They were attentive since day one and were always there for us whenever we had any questions or concerns. Jerry, Zack, Brad, and Nicole were a delight to work with and would recommend them to anyone. They were all incredibly patient and caring people.

At this point I will have to no I would not recommend. i have been in this home for just over a month and have had nothing but issues. I opened up several tickets in the warranty portal and 1 of them 2 times. The AC was not fixed they shut off the dehumidifier and ordered parts to make another run had the AC repair here 5 times. And they marked it completed in the portal. My back patio keeps on flooding during the rain at ankle deep and I get the run around on when someone will be here this reported 2 times. A crack in my wall that never has been addressed and got marked completed. They want you to sign off on these work orders and never call to see if they are truly done. Someone buys a home and we cannot even go out on the patio and enjoy the rain because it floods. I can't have my sons first birthday here because I cannot do extra seating on the patio because of the rain. Hurricane season is here and what is supposed to happen? Flood my house because they do not want to redo my patio. They put the pavers below the grass. No communication and NOBODY CALLS... its email or they avoid. I cannot even adda screen yet because of this issue. Not to mention a fence and my whole backyard floods. And the fence restrictions are obscured. People like vinal fences for privacy. I am a single mom and have a 1 year old. i feel a clean cut white vinal fence should be ok. No wood fenced should be in here. If I was to have known how this would have been I would have NOT purchased. Maybe if they start responding and fixing issues I will change my mind. But until then I am so unhappy.
