Overall Experience

Our overall experience was good. Misinformation was provided through our walk thru and we were not advised that we could take longer than 1 1/2 hours to go over everything. We were under the impression that we had warranty so if anything came up afterwards that was missed, we would be covered. We have since learner otherwise. I know that the house can never truly be 100% but more guidance would go a long way especially for people who have never bought new.

Overall Experience

I really valued the warranty team- we had a few tweaks (very typical in the home building process) that needed to be adjusted, concerned were quickly addressed, validated and solutions were quickly found. The warranty members seemed very attentive, very reassuring, and gave education as they went which is incredibly helpful. The more education homeowners can have- the better experience it is. Amanda, at the sales team, in Sora/Hotchkiss (Calgary location) was very reassuring in her section, she was quite responsive in emails, took time to understand our values and needs in a home to better understand home adjustment plans that would be more suitable to our family life (the need for quiet office space based off my career), the amount of space we needed for our kids to be able to grow up in the home). Amanda's follow up was incredible- and I do value her passion to her career. Trades people have all been respectful and kind, site supervisor was quite responsive as well when we had questions. We did have our home inspected by Nook and Cranny- who always provided really positive feedback about Sterling which was also reassuring! We love our home, and cannot wait to one day put up a 16 ft Christmas Tree in our open to above living space! My ultimate dream for my kids (creating holiday magic).

Overall Experience

We felt supported during the purchase process. Our site supervisor was keen to ensure our needs were met and offered small extras to ensure we were able to complete any homeowner-planned alterations or additions. Both Alex and Kabir feel like partners and friends even post possession, which is comforting. Our inspector was very pleased with the quality of the product we received.

Overall Experience

I wish I could answer this separately for pre-possession and post-possession as those experiences have felt very different. Pre-possession: Lauren and Alex were great - super friendly, knowledgeable, responsive and made the experience fun. Some of the trades appts could have been better (eg Divine flooring was not ready for us, and then used the wrong plans). Josh was great with the pre-possession walk throughs and ensuring we were excited. Enjoyed the experience so much that recommended Sterling to my parents and had them not even look at any other builder. I would have given them 5/5. Post-possession: - Given the driveway was not poured at time of possession, I was given a drive that was largely mud meaning mud and dirt was being trapsed into the house. It was multiple emails with Warranty before some gravel was added in order to make it functional. - My lot is on a sharp decline - meaning access to the side door/basement suite was not great when the lot is not graded, and again, it's very muddy and slippy, and not safe. It was almost 4 weeks and after 6 emails back and forth in order to get those rubber mats put down so that we could access the door. Once laid, the person put some of the rubber tiles over 3 foot apart - so I had to go back one more time to get that fixed - something so simple took far too long to sort out. - Given the lot, garbage collects in it from the wind from other construction sites. However, my lot also had plenty of construction material on it - 2x4s with large nails, rebar sticking out of the ground, 8 foot pieces of pipe, etc. I was told would be cleaned up as soon as the weather was nice. This was not done - and again - multiple emails back and forth to get this cleared including photos showing just how bad it was. This was not safe. - Sterling says that they have no control over when driveways can be poured. However, were able to control when the driveway for their new showhome got poured. Telling customers (whose house was delayed for possession) in March, that they will get a driveway sometime before the end of August and that there is nothing Sterling can do, is especially disappointing. Overall I've found emails from warranty to offer solutions and say things will get done - but then no follow up to ensure that they got done. From a customer perspective, all departments in Sterling are still Sterling - so saying that Warranty does not have authority over certain pieces, means as a customer I am now having to talk to multiple departments.
