Watching it being built
More communication while being built.
the speed they done on completion, but i question the quality vs speed
En large kitchen and dinning room larger toilets, more communication about electrical outlets and switches location and operation. The crew had a lack of respect for my property ,they basically trashed it i picked up 2 large bags of trash around the site over the coarse of construction it was mostly water bottles and food trash along with beer and alcohol bottles and car parts ,if they don't respect the property then they don't respect me as a client or the job.The foreman was made aware of this but nothing was done . i question the the work i can't see. would have liked better time line on construction
All of the house. And Tilson was very friendly
We would have had them add on to the back porch
The floor plan and look of the house is great. We do really like it, but the building process was very difficult and took much longer than it should have. It seemed that sub-contractors were hard to come by and even harder to keep long enough for them to finish their job. Mallory made the purchasing process very easy. She was a joy!
1. Still having problems with dryer vent that goes through the roof on far side of house from laundry room. Had dryer repair man out twice. He says the vent is too long, that causes the lent to block the vent. My husband has to go on roof and clear it out every time I wash. 2. Door to back patio opens wrong direction making it difficult to get past the dining table. 3. Cabinets in bathrooms and desk area are not very functional. The drawers and some of the cabinets are very shallow. Also, draft drawings were incorrect and cabinets were cut for a 30" stove, when I had ordered a 36" stove. The cabinets had to be cut down after installation and one side of lower cabinets is discolored. 4. Before we moved in, the fan blade came off the air conditioner and embedded in the coil. Company came out and put the fan back on, but the coils are still damaged. I'm afraid that the unit will fail long before its normal life span. 5. We did not want an aerobic septic system, but were not given any options. We've been in the house since June 11th and just found out that we were supposed to be putting bleach in the system monthly and cleaning some filter. No one has ever given us any instruction on how to care for the system. I did call the company that installed it, but they couldn't come at a time that both my husband and I could be here.
I am happy with the home’s floor plan. Chauncy Howell, construction supervisor, quickly addressed any concerns or questions and was very helpful throughout the building process. Kelly West, my sales consultant, also kept me updated on the process. I appreciate all they did to make the home-building process a smooth one for me.
I would make no changes. Very pleased with the services provided by Tilson! Excellent staff!
Our home is beautiful, no doubt about that.
Better communication, better service/customer service from builder. We moved into a dirty home (cleaners came the next day) and no one went out of there way to welcome us to our home or make us feel more comfortable spending a large amount of money on our home. We were not walked through the process AT ALL. The pre-construction items that we were responsible for were not clear. For example, we were told to “provide a construction road to the house” so we paid $1000 to have granite to the front of the house then to be told later it actually needed to be to the garage which was an additional $800. Also, we were told to get the electric “60ft from the house” so we did ($2000) to find out later it actually needed to be within 60ft of the garage/breaker box (additional $2000). All these extra costs could have been avoided if the instructions were clear. We spent almost $400,000 on a house and we didn’t even get like a thank you for building with us. My husband asked for a Tilson hat (I mean really, the least we could have gotten for spending that much money) or even a simple thank you call would have been sufficient. We aren’t difficult people by any means but customer service and communication go a long way. We are still waiting for someone to fix our sliding glass door and screens on windows that don’t fit.
Chauncy was great. He said what he was going to do, and most importantly, he DID what he said. I also appreciate Mr Pat taking the time to help right one of the misinformation mishaps we had from our sales rep.
I would have changed our sales rep. We composed an email to her boss and also included a 7 page letter explaining some of our frustrations we experienced.
That it is a one-stop shop. Everything was taken care of and I didn't have to shop around on my own.
Maybe offer a checklist of items to think about before you sit down and sign a contract (i.e. have owners think about their must-haves in advance so they are not constantly asking for change orders to upgrade).
Tilson built us a nice home at a fair price. our builder (bryce rainwater) was fast, throughout, and patient. Our salesperson, J.C. Arocha, was very knowledgeable and professional.
i would request a little more "upfront" information....more detailed explanation without having to ask so many questions.
Wonderful service once Chauncy took over-he kept us updated and he helped get the process moving a long and correctly!!
Had two contractors. Chauncy was wonderful. Adam was not very attentive. Also we had problems with the plumbing company and would never use them personally....
