Covey Lanfear made our build experience outstanding. He worked closely with us to keep us up to-date and answer our questions. When we spotted issues he dug into them and either explained why things were done the way they were or took action. When we expressed our desire to upgrade to custom cabinets Covey supported us by working with Tilson to allow us to proceed with the custom cabinets.
The cabinets were very poor quality. The choice of materials, construction Including how the sides were connected, glued, and faastened, were all extremely poor quality and disapointing. The original cabinets were not in-line with the high quality construction of the rest of the house. On a positive note, a very positive note, Tilson allowed us to replace the Tilson supplied cabinets with our own. This is my definition of how a custom builder should work with home owners.
The overall construction of my new home is what I like, it just needs a few tweaks on a few areas.
The J Manual for my area needs to be updated for the heat that radiates off the ground from all the reflected energy that comes off the granite in the ground
Absolutely everything about how they conduct business! Including the awesome, professional, and friendly staff...they truly make you feel like you are a part of the Tilson family.
Better oversight on electrical rough-in and finish

The employees and the finished product!!!!!!
Nothing. Absolutely LOVE everything. Thank you !
Our contractor and designer. Ty Jimmerson and Taylor McIntire answered all our questions and I don't think, to our knowledge, ever told us no! Always happy to see us or talk to us!
None, we are so happy we decided to make Tilson our builder!
Sturdy, quality construction. Build on your lot.
Lower the height of closet rods!
Taylor in the Georgetown office was great to work with. Great experience!
We are happy with the basic layout of the house. What I'm most disappointed with is the level of craftsmanship that went into the house. Doors that are slightly off of plumb so the reveal of the gap is tighter in one area and loose in another. The french patio door wont stay shut unless you are very deliberate when you close it. It doesn't need to be slammed to get it to shut but you definitely need to listen for the click of the latch otherwise the wind will blow it open. There are several rough sawn cedar beams on the patio that look bad. If the carpenters would have just looked at the beams before they screwed/nailed/bolted them in place they could have hidden the flaws and made the reveal of the beam look much better. The patio concrete wasn't poured with any drainage grade so when it rains hard water pools next to the doors. It actually runs towards the doors?? Did they even check the grade when it got poured? I'm worried that over time all of the poor quality contractor work in the house will lead to problems. I don't know why I didn't notice all of these issues when we did the final walk through with Gabe. Maybe now that we've been here for a little while I'm noticing more things? It seems to me that the model home in Georgetown was built with a proper amount of attention to detail, they way it should be. Our house seems to have been built with whatever it takes get it slapped together quickly and then get to the next job.
Got a good bang for the buck, overall! Overall for everything - extremely happy!
would suggest inspecting workmanship on a weekly/job basis so that little problems could be fixed before other levels of construction wouldn't be added over/on top of it to make it more difficult to correct.
I like my home but I kee finding little things, chipped paint, the TRIM was a huge issue!!! 10 times they had to come back and fix it. We finally just gave up so we could move in and decided to fix it ourselves! That’s very irritating given the cost! Also, crooked drawers, broken hinges...little things here and there. Tilson goes cheap as they can to get the closing done. I like my house and like what we have , but I will never work with Tilson ever again. The contractor we had was great! And then he quit. Probably because he was tire of Tilsons crap as much as we were! Never again.
Taylor at Georgetown was a jerk. He always apologize but should have never had to apologize for his attitude! And he constantly gave us wrong information which led to multiple delays in the build. I dreaded talking to him anytime there was an issue. Absolutely the worst salesman I’ve ever had to work with. And he was the second one we had to go to because the first in San Marcos tried to scam us! Absolutely ridiculous!
