Would Change

This is a main level living home, which is nice for elders. However, Cottonwood layout is too simple. It is basically just square. I didn't realize before I moved in, but this layout is a kind of awkward since there's no separate place, such as a morning room, to place a dining table. The current place designated as a dining area doesn't look too neat. It is almost at the hallway. This community offers a big sized lot. If there was a option for a morning room, I would have definitely selected it instead of trying to hire someone to expand my house to make one. Also, there is a huge unfinished space in the basement. It is larger than actual recreation area. I'm not sure why Van Metre doesn't provide option to finish it....

Desing studio options - suggest that the sales rep at the studio present/suggest options to suit customer budget/taste. In our case, the assigned rep hardly made any suggestions. Luckily, one more rep who was available over the weekend was able to make suggestions. Also, felt design options were limited. Exterior - Feel exterior elevation options are very cookie cutter and limited. For ex: siding portfolio is not an option, elevation looks are mediocre, post lamp for the garden is not even an option (almost all builders provide this) etc. Pre-settlement walk: The construction manager didnt explain/mention maintenance related procedure. Also, suggest he improve the communication with the customers. Should be prompt and more responsive. This also applies to customer service representative.
