Thanks
The customer experience we received when purchasing our home with Anthem was a nightmare. We were deceived at almost every turn of the way, and if it wasn't for my construction background, I feel like we would've been taken advantage of more. We were deceived in things such as: 1. Lot: We were told by our Sales person that our lot would not contain a transformer, something that we specifically requested. However, soon after purchasing the home, we found a transformer on our lot. We were enraged, because we specifically did not want a transformer on our lot and were told it would not have one. They hid behind the fact that the lot plan they had noted "Preliminary" but honestly, Anthem is not only the home builder, but the Developer of the community, so how is it possible that they did not know whether the lot will have a transformer or not? Then after, they would not be willing to allow us to swap our lot for another lot close by that did not have a transformer, despite providing us with inaccurate information during the lot selection process. 2. Pricing: We were over-charged for many options, and if it wasn't for the fact that I am an Estimator, I would not have caught it. Example, we were charged 14% for more sqft of balcony than what was actually needed. If I did not know how to do a quantity take-off, we would have been charged that extra. Another example, we were being charged an extremely crazy amount to change a bathtub to a shower. After bringing up that I believe the amount is incorrect, it came back that Estimating at Anthem made a mistake and over charged us. If I was not an Estimator, we would have been over-charged. Those are a few of many items. 3. We were told that things would be included and later found out that it was not included. Example we specifically requested for thermostats on every floor (Upper, Main, Basement) during the sales process and were informed that it will be included. However, when we received our drawings, it did not contain it and it was too late to add it. Another was for certain rough-ins to be included, and later finding out that it was not included. 4. Construction. There were things that were missed during construction of our home. One was the thermostats that we FOUGHT so hard for in the above notes. Others were flimsy stairs balcony that were unsafe, paint splatter all over our home during possession, outlets missing, stove cooktop not available and receiving a temporary inferior cooktop, garburator not missed, not being notified of exterior works ahead of time like driveway, parging, and grading which restricts our use of the our home and needs planning for, and many other items. 5. Sales. Very difficult to work with and deceived us every step of the way and rushed us to do everything when they were taking their time getting back to us on so many things. Overall, the customer experience with Anthem has been atrocious. The quality of the construction is decent, but not great. I would not recommend Anthem to anyone.
