I am leaving this review because I am dissatisfied with the builder, Capital Homes; I did not have a good experience from the very beginning, and ultimately, I was forced to accept the house because I had no other options and had to vacate my previous residence. Before the closing date, an inspection was conducted to identify issues and resolve them prior to finalizing the purchase. However, a re-inspection the day before closing revealed that most of the problems had merely been cosmetically patched over; issues with the tiles persisted—including imperfections, unevenness, and chips. Furthermore, the general cleanliness was poor; the house was handed over with significant amounts of dirt and silicone residue on the floors, among other issues. Since taking possession, I have been compelled to file multiple warranty claims covering the air conditioning, plumbing (specifically water leaks in the master bathroom toilet on two occasions), and a garage door that suddenly stopped working. I have also submitted a claim regarding the master bedroom carpet, which has two reported defects. I do appreciate the response and resolution regarding the issues submitted through the online warranty system, as the builder has acknowledged them and sent personnel to make repairs. Overall, however, I cannot rate my personal experience highly; when purchasing a new home, one expects it to be free of defects, and one anticipates that customer service and problem resolution would be handled effectively from the start—expectations that were not met in this case.

I'm mixed about my overall experience with Capital Homes. Things started out great, but from the design center meeting onward, things did not go as expected and to top it all off I was disrespected by an employee of Capital Homes who humiliated me in front of my New Home Specialist and my husband. The design center issues were address, but the disrespect was never addressed.

Great except for the fact they never once told me I was moving into a communist neighborhood with cluster mailboxes (all the others on the way in that they built in phase 1 have their own mailboxes, there was no way to tell on my own).
Capital Homes responseThank you so much for your feedback, and we're glad your experience was otherwise great! We want to clarify that cluster mailboxes in new developments are actually required by the United States Postal Service (USPS), not a builder choice. The USPS mandated Cluster Box Units (CBUs) for all new residential construction as part of their delivery efficiency standards. This means that individual curbside, or door-to-door mailboxes, are no longer approved for new phases of development, regardless of what earlier phases may have had. We understand this can feel like a surprise, especially when older phases of the neighborhood have individual mailboxes.

Nate has been very good - definitely 5 stars if this was based on him. Unfortunately I've received the run around since close. Joe noted drainage and sod issues during my orientation and it's on my paperwork. Joe said he also had drainage and sod to be corrected on his inspection report. It's been 6 weeks since my orientation and the drainage and sod in backyard is STILL not corrected. Eddie tried to tell me it was warranty issue (it's not). Sod guy (Michael) said drainage not on him. It's been a real pain. I'm in my home almost 6 weeks and still have drainage and sod issues in backyard. We went practically 3 weeks after my close on 4/16 without much rain and no one fixed my backyard. Now I'm told by Nate the this will be fixed by 6/15. But, will it really? So, while I would like to give a better rating I cannot because of the backyard drainage and sod not be corrected. The known drainage issues between my lot and the lot to the west is also creating difficulties for me to just get to my side gate. It's steep and a muddy mess.
Capital Homes responseThank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind words about Nate — he truly cares about our homeowners and their experience. We’re glad we had the chance to talk through your concerns, and we appreciate the opportunity to make things right. We remain committed to completing everything by the June 15th deadline discussed.

Only major complaint is that the sod on my house was bad and half of it is likely dead. They replaced the sod on several unsold homes that was from the same batch as mine, so it is likely a sod issue and not an issue with my watering schedule.
Capital Homes responseThank you for the response! We'll let the team know your feedback. We hope you love your beautiful new home and we are honored you chose us as your builder of choice!

Love my new home. Very impressed by the quality of it. Questions or concerns were addressed and quickly. Follow-up phone calls checking to make sure it was corrected. Bryon is easy and pleasant to work with. Billy was do helpful also. The workman was pleasant and seemed proud their work. What I did not see where people just standing around. Everybody was busy
Capital Homes responseThank you for taking the time to leave us a review and for letting our team know how the process went for you. We hope you love your home as much as we do. It's beautiful!

We are pleased with the building quality and structure of our home. We are not pleased with the grating of the lot and the low quality results of the sod installation. There are holes and depressions large enough for me to twist my ankle. Being told by the Capital rep that this is normal does not lineup with past experiences of home ownership.
Capital Homes responseThank you for taking the time to provide an honest response! We take pride in the work that we do and will discuss your feedback about landscaping with the team.

Capital Homes did work decently with us going through the process. We did like the house when we first looked at it. I was very disappointed when we first walked inside as the new owners. This home had sat for almost a year waiting for a buyer. I expected the home to be clean and ready for us. I WAS WRONG! The house was dirty and needed to be touched up. This is the second new home that we bought in the last 7 years. Our home from 2019 had better workmanship than Capital Homes. They did a complete clean before we were given the keys. This makes me think that Capital Homes only cares about the next sale. Poor workmanship, and some cost cutting features did not make me a happy owner. At this point, I do believe I would recommend Capital Homes is anyone ask.
