The process of building a house was a much easier experience because JTB is very organized and they have very knowledgeable staff that helped us.
For the most part people were great to work with. Some exceptions. Responsiveness since moving in has not been great.
This is our second time going through a home-building project and every single aspect of our experience with JTB was excellent and far superior to our experience with our previous home. We especially enjoyed the range of customizable features and the ease of the Design Studio experience. Jon was an excellent build supervisor and provided great communication throughout. We are also impressed the overall quality of the construction.

Working with the architect and designer was great. They had great suggestions and worked very hard to help us create a home we wanted. The construction manager we worked with was somewhat hard to coordinate with. We attributed this to the fact we lived on the east side of the state and our home was being built on the west side of the state. Most of the time we could not connect our schedules to both be at the house for the scheduled walkthroughs in the build process. This did cause some extra time and effort in communication and results. When we had our final walkthrough and closing scheduled, this is when more issues developed. First the time allowed for the walkthrough was not enough to allow us to arrive for the closing timely, so the walkthrough was not thorough enough to cover everything and the issues we did bring up were documented to be addressed later. One immediate issue was the condition of the house and how dirty the floors were, the manager called a cleaning crew to come clean the floors and it was all very distracting and not good business process. We also talked about the floors and how they made a 'crunchy' sound when we walked on them. We were told it this sound would go away eventually. Needless to say, this has not happened, and this is on the to be further discussed issues list. We discovered we had no water running to the supply line for the refrigerator, the plumber never hooked it up, so they sent someone out to run the plumbing and get it all running correctly. We had a cabinet painter come fix some of the woodwork and cabinets. We still have some follow up to complete, but the items finish looks good. There is still some drywall repairs needed and will be followed up on accordingly. The outside is waiting for final grade.
The process is confusing especially when trying to pick out upgrades and how much it will cost up front. We would have added more upgrades but thought we were at our budget limit already.

Overall experience I would say was good but great. I purchased a spec model home and upon receiving the keys during the walk thru, there were still many items that were set to be completed within the purchase agreement that were NOT completed. There were a few items that were scheduled and completed post move-in, but there was and still are outstanding items that JTB has yet to communicate a status of. The home was 80% clean upon move in and there were pieces of lumber, bracketry, cabling, misc trash and other construction materials still on the property and not cleaned up. I’m confused why neither JTB or the realtor wouldn’t clean up the property before the new owner takes possession. These small items add up to a sub-par move-in experience into an amazing home.
