Our experience with Meritage Homes has been terrific!! We’ve currently moving from El Paso to Kyle Texas. Meritage offers builds in multiple areas of the greater Austin area that we were interested in living based on work commute, schools and location convenience. Lori was outstanding!! We met her in the Bastrop area while scouting out potential neighborhoods we were interested in. From that point she maintained constant contact with us and answered any questions we had. She even called to check in with us when we had no questions. Lori definitely went above and beyond which is the reason we made her our primary Meritage contact during our search for the right neighborhood. Once we settled on Kyle in the Opal neighborhood we met Victor the construction manager. He was awesome as well. Very personable and professional. During our initial walkthrough of the house we selected he was pointing out little discrepancies and defects that my wife and I missed. Definitely made us feel like he was on our side and wanted us to be more than satisfied. My only critique in the home buying process would be the ability to only make an offer on one house at a time. I understand the reasoning. There were multiple models we were interested in and the worry of competing buyers was really our only stress. I guess that’s kind of a great problem for Meritage to have.

Dear Meritage Homes Customer Services, My experienced with Meritage Homes was horrible! It was unacceptable and reflects serious failures in communication, transparency, and professional integrity across your team. What should have been an exciting and meaningful milestone turned into a frustrating and stressful process due to several issues that i believe require your attention. From the beginning communication was inconsistent and often unclear. The sales agent neither the realtor provided to us a list of the price, or sq ft and as well of year built of that particular townhouse, for us to see the townhouse information, everything was just thru mouth. John, the sales agent said the square footage was 1785 and he affirmed it several times, I even have a text message with such information.. Then, our lender, Yvonne, on the first contract that we signed, it had the wrong sales price of the townhome, which now it comes to my thoughts it should have been the right price. because later after closing and having an encounter with the sales agent he showed me the same the price as Yvonne had on that contract. After signing the first contract and providing the documents as needed for this sale, we went to meet with Dylan, the builder manager, to do the first punch list, he said the house would be ready the day before closing date, powered wash, clean and some items that needed to get fixed. The lender, always portrayed herself as she was all of time in a hurry and made many mistakes along the process. The day before closing my husband and I went to do the final walk, but before this we already have walked the townhouse twice, and what was our surprise, several items that were either promised, incomplete, or in need of repair were not addressed on time as promised. The townhome was not clean or powered wash and few items were not fixed yet. I was already kind of disappointed, then I asked Dylan what was the year built of the townhouse, because this information was not provided, and he said 2023. The next day, closing day, I asked the lender ,what was is the year built of this property? and she is like, "your are buying a brand new home 2026, I said, no, "I was told by builder manager that it was built in 2023". Yvonne was, really surprised that we were buying the model home, that no one told her about that, then she is like, "don't worry when November comes ,you call me and if we have to reimburse about your taxes difference we will". After two weeks of buying the townhouse we went back and another disappointed issue came up, that there were still issues on the house that were not fixed. So, I talked to Drew, Branch manager, he had an attitude when I was telling him that some of the stuff was still not complete his response was that, "you bought the model home, it was supposed to be sold as is and I already did too much for you," I was in shock of his response and I told him nobody had never told me bout this. And now he doesn't even responds to my calls or text. Then, I spoke with sales agent in person about all this terrible experience and he is like no you bought the townhouse for a good price come and I will show you, on his computer screen he had a spreadsheet with the list of several houses, but he had highlighted the address of the townhouse we bought and it had a different price, the price of which Yvonne had of the first contract and when I told him noo! we did not bought the townhouse for this price, it was higher then what you have , he promptly closed the screen and did't know what to answer, another thing to disappoint us. Then the sales agent asked us if anybody asked us about signing an amendment for this discrepancy and, so far no, we haven't. In overall, I found the coordination between departments- sales construction, and customer care- to be disjointed. This resulted in negligence and conflicting information, adding to the overall frustration. As a homeowner, I expected a higher level of professionalism, attention to detail, especially between lender and sales agent, and customer care. This raises serious questions about the accuracy of the information being communicated across parties and the overall transparency of the process. These discrepancies have not only undermined my confidence but also may impacted the terms and evaluation of the loan. I am requesting a thorough review of my case. My concern is that I got sold the wrong townhouse, because of square ft as of what we were told, wrong year built and up to now there still some items not fixed yet. I would appreciate a prompt response outlining how these concerns will be resolved, a clear outline of any corrective measures, compensation being offered as a result of these errors. I am hopeful that we can work toward a satisfactory resolution, along with a clear plan to address the outstanding issues and improve the experience for future buyers Sincerely, Lorena ***-***-****

Each person we interacted with from the sales agent to the building manager were quick to respond and address any questions or concerns. Building manager (Jay) was very informative when doing our home tour and explaining all aspects important to a homeowner. Loan department and title company were both very quick with their end of things and every step of the home buying process was very efficient and streamlined.
