As first time home buyers, the process was overall AMAZING. Aside from about a week after closing. Everyone we had come into contact with up until that point was nothing short of a blessing. Jeff (construction manager) and Daphne (meritage homes agent) went above and beyond for us in every single aspect of this process. A week after closing we were met with a burden and a requirement to fix a mistake that was not made by us. This mistake was made entirely by the Meritage finance team. We then were met with a very unkind and unprofessional email from someone who works with meritage after following the direction of our real estate agent. We did not appreciate this kind of force. Not once was any official document sent to us confirming the legitimacy of this request. This mistake and the way it was handled has deeply affected the way we view Meritage as a company and makes us hesitant to recommend Meritage to other homebuyers.

Our experience with Meritage Homes has been terrific!! We’ve currently moving from El Paso to Kyle Texas. Meritage offers builds in multiple areas of the greater Austin area that we were interested in living based on work commute, schools and location convenience. Lori was outstanding!! We met her in the Bastrop area while scouting out potential neighborhoods we were interested in. From that point she maintained constant contact with us and answered any questions we had. She even called to check in with us when we had no questions. Lori definitely went above and beyond which is the reason we made her our primary Meritage contact during our search for the right neighborhood. Once we settled on Kyle in the Opal neighborhood we met Victor the construction manager. He was awesome as well. Very personable and professional. During our initial walkthrough of the house we selected he was pointing out little discrepancies and defects that my wife and I missed. Definitely made us feel like he was on our side and wanted us to be more than satisfied. My only critique in the home buying process would be the ability to only make an offer on one house at a time. I understand the reasoning. There were multiple models we were interested in and the worry of competing buyers was really our only stress. I guess that’s kind of a great problem for Meritage to have.
