Thank you for the positive review! We're happy to see that you were pleased with your building experience. We hope that you are able to spend many memory-filled years to come in your new home!
It is readily apparent that Veridian hires quality people. Chris, Lindsay, and Evan are very nice and we felt that they genuinely cared about us and our home. Northing is perfect and we understand that, and they took measures to address our concerns whenever voiced. We love the wide front porch of the Margot Cottage elevation as we look out across the meadow, we are lucky to have a lot without anyone across the street. We love the granite countertops and floors. And our squishy carpet in the great room. We really like the Margot pocket office feature with the added pocket door - convenient yet easily hidden, and it allows us to avoid having to waste a bedroom for an office. The overall width of the living area feels like a home, as opposed to some more narrow models that we looked at. Overall, we really like the layout.
The electrical setup in terms of the automated lighting switches was not clear prior to installation. There are a total of 3 lutron switches within 3 feet of each other in the laundry room. We believe that two of the lutron switches in the laundry room are a total waste of system capability. We would rather be able to utilize them elsewhere in the house. Also, the driveway lights and porch lights should not be run off of the same switch; it would be nice to control them separately. Just prior to move in, there was a major miscommunication regarding the retaining wall in our front yard. All of the draft home plans included one, we had extensive conversations with Bruce Company rep about it, but then one was not installed. We were concerned that we had been charged for it without the work actually being done. This took quite a while to sort out and if we hadn't lived so close and pro-active in communication, we don't think it would have been resolved. We were offered a small credit, which was satisfactory. We did not think it was fair to be charged $500 to move the furnace a small distance. We were not aware that the driveway was only the width of the garage door. Had this been discussed in advance, we would have extended it just 18" inches wider on both sides. Although we have a large walk-in closet, in the Margot there is no small linen closet in the master bath. We probably should have payed more attention to this, but our feedback is to take a small portion of the master closet and repurpose it for a small closet.
We really appreciate your thorough comments! Your suggestions are all excellent ideas, and we will consider these items during our next Architectural Control Committee meeting. Thank you for the compliment on our team, we really do have a great group of people working for us. It sounds like your concerns have all been addressed, but if there is anything you need in the future, just let us know!
